- Wines of this region suffer from identity crisis due to its position on the border of France and Germany.
- Both French & Dutch languages are spoken in Alsace.
- During the 1st world war Alsace was part of France but just 22 years later the Germans took control again until the end of 2nd world war. Today, Alsace is very much part of France.
- It has longer & colder winters and warm sunny summers.
- The vines are grown to a height of 7’ or 2 meters. This helps to give protection from frost.
