France has unending list and range of wines \u2013 dry red table wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy and the beefy reds from Rhone, zesty reds from Beaujolais, light fragrant whites from Loire, dry whites from Burgundy etc.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The latitude of France is ideal for wine production. The climate varies from cold and northerly (Alsace and Champagne), to marginal Atlantic (Bordeaux), to blisteringly hot (the south).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>WINE LAWS OF FRANCE<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are certain standards and regulations laid down for each area. District or regions are classified by Appellation Controlee system (AC) set up under France law. The controls are organized by or governed by the Institut National Des Appellations d\u2019Origine (INAO). The AC is a guarantee of origin of wines in the following manners:-<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">An exactly defined growing area<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The type and blend of grape varieties used<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Care of vineyard and grafting<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Maximum harvest per acre<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Minimum alcoholic content<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Wine production and storage methods<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Official tasting, final grading of wine.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There are five grades given to wines in France, given below:-<\/span><\/p><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>AOC (APPELLATION D\u2019ORIGIN CONTROLEE)<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Only 25% of France wines get AOC certificate<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Bordeaux AOC means the wine is produced in Bordeaux region of France (same to other regions such as Medoc AOC, St. Julien AOC etc.)<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A more specific wine name better wine is.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>VDQS (VINS DELIMITES DE QUALITE SUPERIEURE)<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A grade down from AOC, introduced in 1949.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">This grade denotes high quality from a limited growing area, grape variety, minimum alcoholic content, cultivation and wine production.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>VIN DE PAYS (MEANS COUNTRY WINES)<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It has birth certificates of wines<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It carries reference to geographical area for e.g. Vin de Pays Chablis).<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>VIN DE TABLE (MEANS WINE OF TABLE)<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Meant for everyday use<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Does not improve with age<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Wines are expensive sometimes<\/span><\/li><\/ul><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>VO (VIN ORDINAIRE)<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><ul><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Its price depend on its strength<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Almost always red wines fall in this grade.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"color:
