Being a coastal region there is no goan that is not familiar with eating fish and rice. Apart from rice the cereal consumed is wheat, mainly in the form of bread baked in ovens (by Christian\u2019s communities) and chapattis be the Hindus.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The other common meats consumed are pork, chicken, lamb.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The main characteristics or features that can observe among goans are:<\/strong> &#8211;<\/span><\/p><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The food consumed is too spicy and sour with a maximum consumption of red chillies.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kokum is commonly used by the Hindus and vinegar by the Christians. Also consumption of pork is in high demand by Christians.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Masala ground freshly and fine (to extent of grinding over and over again till the paste is clay fine).<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Goans do not have a sweet tooth. The most popular sweet being used is Bibinka.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Peculiarity of dishes are that they are consumed pickled.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Most popular meats are seafood and pork.<\/span><\/li><\/ol><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Few goan dishes with their main ingredients: &#8211;<\/span><\/p><ol><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Goan prawn masala: &#8211;<\/strong> red chillies, cumin seeds, turmeric, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, malt vinegar.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Goan curry: &#8211; <\/strong>onions, tomatoes, coconut milk, red chillies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric, garlic, ginger, tamarind\/cocum.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Vindaloo masala: &#8211; <\/strong>red chillies, cinnamon, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, turmeric, garlic, ginger, vinegar.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Marinade: &#8211; <\/strong>1) vinegar, 2) sugar, salt, cloves, pepper, cardamom.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Sorpotel: &#8211; <\/strong>onions, tomatoes, (pork blood \u2013optional). Vinegar, red chillies, pepper, cumin seeds, cloves, cardamom, garlic, ginger.<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Bibinka: <\/strong>&#8211; coconut milk, jiggery, eggs.
